I have over 20 years of experience in information technology, with a focus on visual presentation of information. My education is in mathematics and computer graphics, and I have spent many years programming interactive graphics software and developing dynamic web sites. I have designed and implemented large software projects, supervised teams of up to 15 people, organized international conferences, and taught college-level mathematics and computer science courses. My diverse background and level of experience make me an excellent problem-solver; I am used to thinking "out of the box". I learn quickly, love challenges, and am especially good at organizing information, whether it be a collection of mathematical concepts, a store’s inventory list, or the user interface of a new piece of software, in a form that is easily accessible to as wide an audience as possible

• Lead a team of 5 programmers over a period of 3 years to design and develop "Geomview", an interactive 3D visualization package at the University of Minnesota’s Geometry Center. Specific tasks included: overall management of the team, design and implementation of API between computational layer and UI, design and implementation of the package’s internal parser and lisp-like language, scheduling and management of software releases, writing users guide and documentation, and designing a process for incorporating user feedback into the development cycle. • Supervised a team of 2 programmers to develop "JGV", an interactive 3D viewing program written in Java. Used BSP Tree rendering algorithm. See http://www.geom.umn.edu/java/JGV for more information.
• Supervised a team of 2 programmers to develop "Crafter", an interactive spacecraft design package for NASA’s JPL to use in preparing mission proposal animations. See http://www.geom.umn.edu/software/crafter for more information.
• Supervised a team of 3 programmers to develop "Pisces", a software package for computing and displaying solutions to implicit equations. See http://www.geom.umn.edu/~fjw/pisces for more information.
• Worked on a team to design and produce "Outside In", a computer-generated animation illustrating a modern-day mathematics theorem related to turning a sphere inside out. "Outside In" has won numerous awards, including first prize at Nicograph (Japan), first prize at the London Effects and Animation Festival, and selection into SIGGRAPH’s Electronic Theater.
• Worked on a team to design and produce "The Shape of Space", a computer-generated animation illustrating concepts from geometry and toplogy as they relate to cosmology and theories of the universe.

• Served for 5 years as the manager of the technical staff of approximately 15 people at the University of Minnesota’s Geometry Center (see http://www.geom.umn.edu). Responsibilities included hiring decisions, computer and audio-visual equipment purchasing and management, supervising software and research projects, and aiding in the preparation of funding proposals and presentations.

• Managed $200,000/year equipment budget at University of Minnesota’s Geometry Center. Served as central systems administrator for network of 70 workstations, including SGI, Linux, Sun, HP, NeXT, Windows 95/98/NT, and Macintosh. Planned purchase and maintenence of all equipment, oversaw all software installation, and supervised team to provide user support.
• Purchased, configured, and operated network of Linux systems at Geometry Technologies LLC (http://www.geomtech.com). This included configuring separate subsystems to serve as main server, firewall, and development system.
